From the traditional Japanese Nashiji to the very popular Damascus Steel, you are sure to make a beautiful gift to yourself or someone you care about.

The Japanese kitchen knives are known for their unique sharpness, which is achieved through a combination of steel and whetstone. The steel used is hard and resistant to rust, allowing the knives to maintain their sharpness for a long time. Whetstones are used to maintain the knives' sharpness, and skilled craftsmen use them to adjust and finely polish the edges of the knives. Japanese knives are made using this traditional artisanal technique, and they are renowned worldwide for their sharpness and beauty.

YOSHINOBU YAMAWAKI

Japanese knives are made through many processes and therefore require skilled craftsmen. If one process goes wrong, it affects the overall quality, which is why the craftsmen pay attention to every detail. For example, when sharpening the blade, the craftsmen sharpen it at a subtle angle to bring out the maximum sharpness. In addition, special techniques such as forging and heat treatment are used to adjust the hardness and softness of the blade. Using these techniques, craftsmen create beautiful knives.

Japanese kitchen knives, or "Wa-Bocho," are a traditional craft that carries the heart and soul of the craftsmen who create them. When making a knife, the craftsmen approach the task with the same mentality as making a samurai sword, pouring their hearts and souls into the creation. Crafting a Wa-Bocho involves multiple processes, and a mistake in any one of them can affect the overall quality of the knife. Therefore, the craftsmen pay meticulous attention to every detail to achieve the perfect balance of sharpness and beauty. The knives are made using special techniques such as forging, heat treatment, and sharpening, which require advanced skills and knowledge. Each Wa-Bocho is a work of art that embodies the passion and dedication of the craftsmen who made it.
